Dodge Charger and its Significance in the Sports Car Industry
The Dodge Charger is one of the most iconic American muscle cars. Since 1966, it has been known for its power and style. Over its seven generations, it has undergone stylistic changes, but it’s still a favorite among drivers who want a fun, sporty ride with plenty of oomph under the hood.
For model year 2025, this Dodge sports car will undergo a few changes. Here’s what we know so far.
Rumored Changes in Design, Features, and Performance Enhancements
So far, Dodge has kept a lot of information about the 2025 Charger under wraps. There is plenty of speculation, however!
Dodge has stated that the 2025 model will feature an electric powertrain, but other reports suggest a gas engine–specifically the Hurricane twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six–will be available. It seems like you’ll have options whether you want a classic gas-powered engine or you’re ready to explore EVs.
The 2025 Charger will start at $50,000 and go up to $90,000 depending on the trim and options you choose. It will probably be offered in several trims, but only three have been made public so far: 340, 440, and Banshee.
New Exterior Design?
Dodge has only released four photos of the production model so far, but we can tell that the styling of the 2025 model will be similar to the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT concept. The photos also reveal staggered-width tires and an illuminated Fratzog logo between the headlights. It’s sure to turn heads on the road!
Interior Setup and Features
Another insight we can glean from the photos Dodge released is the fact that the 2025 model will return to its two-door format. We can also tell that the trunk lid is a liftback style, there’s a large panoramic sunroof, and a fighter jet-inspired cap for the ignition switch.
Inside, the textured trim is designed to mimic the grille treatment on the 1968 Charger. We can also expect a trapezoidal-shaped infotainment touchscreen in dash and an oblong digital gauge display. We expect the Charger will also feature wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Wi-Fi, and over-the-air update capability for the Uconnect system.
Performance Enhancements?
When it comes to performance, Dodge has confirmed an all-electric powertrain, but little else. Dodge has mentioned a 400-volt "base trim" with 455 hp, and the Banshee model will feature an extremely powerful 800-volt battery, generating over 800 horsepower.
